L’attuazione di una terapia psicofarmacologica crea spesso problemi di natura sessuale che vengono vissuti dal paziente con grande disagio, talvolta fino al punto da indurlo ad interrompere il trattamento (drop out). A tale proposito, appare necessario fare due importanti considerazioni:

1) un’elevata percentuale di soggetti portatori di una psicopatologia soffre di disfunzioni sessuali indipendentemente dalla psicofarmacoterapia praticata;
